BRIGHT sparks from schools around Kildare proudly presented their projects at this year’s BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition with one school in particular - Kildare Town Community School - having a mammoth ten projects on display at the four day science fair held at the RDS from Thursday, January 9 to Saturday, January 12 last.

The projects varied from the learning abilities of hamsters, to the effects of electricty on plant growth and yoga, sunscreen and school bags on the body while the emotional power of photgraphs was also under the microscope.

Others investigated neodymium magnets, nano-particles and internet protocols, this reporter might be forgiven for feeling somewhat daunted by some of the projects on display.

Luckily, students from Newbridge College, Salesian College, Naas CBS, Cross and Passion College, Kildare Town Community School and St Wolstan’s were on hand to explain all to Leinster Leader reporters Paula Campbell and Liam Godinho, who were on hand at the RDS to investigate what Kildare’s science stars in the making had been working on.
