Rheinisch bows out of Olympics

Leixlip man Eoin Rheinisch has bowed out of the London 2012 Olympic Games after he failed to progress from the semi final stage of the men’s Slalom K1 event this afternoon (Wendesday), writes Ruth Chambers.

Leixlip man Eoin Rheinisch has bowed out of the London 2012 Olympic Games after he failed to progress from the semi final stage of the men’s Slalom K1 event this afternoon (Wendesday), writes Ruth Chambers.

The Salmon Leap paddler missed a gate on the Lee Valley course and with only the top ten advancing the 50 second penalty meant heartbreak and an exit for the 32-year-old Kildare man.

Rheinisch began well but he missed gate 19 and therafter stuggled to complete the course. The three time Olympian finished 14th out of 15 starters.
