A high turnover of parking spaces is needed at Christmas in Newbridge
Pay parking will be enforced in Newbridge over the Christmas period with three free days for those parking at the GAA car park.
Councillors agreed that the same arrangements as last year should apply this December. The matter was discussed at last Wednesday’s (November 16) Kildare Newbridge Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Suzanne Doyle pointed out that Newbridge was different to Kildare town given its retail status. She said businesses would probably prefer pay parking to remain so customers could get access to parking spaces. She said this would ensure a turnover of spaces and give greater access to the town.
She agreed the 2015 arrangements should apply again this year.
Kildare County Council said: “pay parking will remain in place, with the exception of Newbridge GAA Car Park, where there will be free parking on the following dates: Saturday December 17; Friday December 23, and Saturday December 24.”
