It has been confirmed that Ireland's sole wheelchair racer at the Paralympic Games has been withdrawn from the T53 800m heats scheduled for tomorrow, on medical grounds.

Caragh's Patrick Monahan, who is set to make his Paralympic debut in Rio is also scheduled to compete in the T53 marathon on Sunday, September 18.

It is hoped he will recover in time to take to the start line for that event on the final day.
