With Carlow pulling out of the Leinster MHC fixture against Kildare last week, the authorities fixed in its place an All Ireland ‘B’ minor quarter final against Mayo at St. Conleth’s Park, Newbridge, for Saturday.

What ensued was a game so one sided that it did nothing for Kildare and even less for a Mayo team that suffered an embarrassing defeat on a score line of Kildare 9-22 Mayo 2-2.

Not alone was the Mayo defence under pressure but so too was scoreboard as the system is not capable of recording ten goals.

Enough said!
