Champs, Athy, draw Moorefield in SFC opener

THE first round draw for the senior, intermediate and junior football club championships were made following the Kildare v Westmeath game on Sunday, overseen by Co. Board Chairman, John McMahon, writes TOMMY CALLAGHAN.

The stand-out game of the opening round sees the 2011 champions, Athy, pitted against the 2010 champions Moorefield in what should be a thriller.

The full senior draw is as follows:

Clane v Round Towers; Moorefield v Athy; Carbury v St.Laurences; Sarsfields v Naas; Maynooth v Allenwood; Suncroft v Celbridge; Leixlip v St.Kevins and Confey v Ballymore Eustace.

The intermediate draw resultled as follows: Robertstown v Nurney; Kilcock v Rathangan; Straffan v Eadestown; Kilculeln v Sallins; Kill v Johnstownbridge; Caragh v Raheens; Ballyteague v Castledermot; Monasterevin v Ellistown.

The draw for the junior championship was also made and is: Clogherinkoe v Cappagh; Rheban v Grangenolvan; Two Mile House v Ratahcoffey; Milltown v Castlemitchell, Ardclough v Ballykelly.

First round games will all be played on the weekend of 18, 19 and 20 May.
