Kildare and Two Mile House defender, Peter Kelly, has been ruled out of action for 12-16 weeks.

Kelly had what was foreseen as a routine ‘cleaning up’ key hole procedure on his troublesome knee recently but on closer examination other damage was found which will now require the former All Star to rest up for between 3 and 4 months.

It is a bitter blow for the player who recovered well from a cruciate ligament a few seasons back but for his club, Two Mile House it is a massive setback as they prepare for the All Ireland Junior Club semi final at the end of January when the Kildare champions will take on Emyvale of Monaghan.

The stylish defender, a lynchpin in his club’s 2013 season, Kelly’s injury is the latest blow to his Jason Ryan’s Kildare squad but hopefully, despite missing the entire Alliance National Football League, will be back in our around the start of the Leinster Championship.
