The future of Kildare senior football manager, Kieran McGeeney, is expected to be decided tonight (Tuesday 3 September) when club delegates meet at St. Conleth’s Park, for a scheduled monthly meeting but with McGeeney’s future high on the agenda.

It is understood that the Co. Executive have decided to recommend McGeeney remain as senior and U21 boss for possibly a further two more years.

The Armagh man has been in charge for six seasons and while he failed to win a Leinster Championship title, he has guided Kildare to five quarter finals plus an All Ireland semi final. That, it seems, is not enough for some clubs (and individuials) who have been actively canvassing for a change of management.

Although McGeeney has the backing of the Co. Board Executive plus the entire county playing panel, there is no guarantee that his reappointment will be passed. It could be a long and interesting meeting tonight starting at 8.
