Played on a surface hardly conducive to good hurling - extremely heavy with players finding it difficult to hold their feet - it was not surprisingly a low scoring game with the sides level at 0-3 each at the break.

It wasn’t looking good for Paul Dermody’s side’s at that stage coming out to face the strong wind in the second half but the Kildare boys showed great passion, great heart and great determination to hold off the Dublin side, mainly due to a goal from Liam O’Brien in the 37 minute.

Lots of stars, no more so that team captain and goalkeeper Paddy McKenna, along with Seán O’Rourke, Seán Christenseen; midfielders Tommy Cribbin and Andy Malone along with top scorer Liam O’Brien.

Final score: Scoil Mhuire 1-4 Scoil Chaitriona 0-5.
