AFL semi final: Lilies bid to down Tyrone

Paul Cribbin named at left half back on the Kildare side to take on Tyrone in the AFL semi final.
It was just 12 months ago when Kildare defeated Tyrone to capture the Allianz FL Divison 2 title and today (Sunday 14 April) Kieran McGeeney’s team attempt to repeat the dose when the same sides go head to head in Croke Park in the first of the AFL Division 1 semi finals (2 pm throw) live on TG4. The second semi final sees Dublin tackle Mayo with a 3.45 throw-in, also live on TG4, writes TOMMY CALLAGHAN.

Only a few short weeks ago Mickey Harte’s side came to Newbridge and inflicted a fairly comfortable six point won over the Lilywhites so no one can be under any illusions as to the task facing Kildare today.

Both sides have some changes in their sides from that day and announced their line-ups in mid-week as follows:

Kildare: Mark Donnellan; Ollie Lyons, Mick Foley, Hugh McGrillen; Peter Kelly, Eoin Doyle, Paul Cribbin; Daryl Flynn, Pádraig O’Neill; Daniel Flynn, Niall Kelly, Eoghan O’Flaherty; Seanie Johnston, Alan Smith, Johnny Doyle.

Tyrone: N Morgan; PJ Quinn, C Clarke, C McCarron; D Carlin, Mattie Donnelly, C Gormley; C Cavanagh, S Cavanagh; Joe McMahon, P Harte, Mark Donnelly; M Penrose, S O’Neill, D McCurry.
