KILDARE will appeal the €5,000 fine and selector Niall Carew’s four week ban that were handed down by the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) yesterday (Tuesday). However, Johnstownbridge man Brian Flanagan, who was shown a straight red card against Monaghan in Clones last Sunday, will not appeal.

The bans and fines were handed out following last Sunday’s melee just before half time in the Allianz Football League Division 2 game against Monaghan in Clones.

Kildare County Board treasurer Martin Whyte confirmed that Niall Carew will appeal the decision, while the board will do likewise with the fine.
