On behalf of REHAB Kildare People of the Year Awards Committee, I’d like to express our deepest sympathy to Mary and family.

Michael was a great asset to the committee over the years and I’m sure fellow judges Nellie and PJ will miss his wit and no-nonsense approach in future award selections. His contribution was typically Michael - direct, straight to the point but always fair and unbiased.

On a personal note, having worked with Michael over the years, I’m glad he enjoyed his retirement in recent years; he loved working in the sphere of adult education and found a renewed energy for the garden. It’s just a shame that for Mary and MIchael, their retirement together was ended so prematurely.
