You might have expected some Ursula Andress-style bikinis or gold-sprayed catsuits to turn up at the Curragh once the James Bond-themed ‘Best Dressed Lady’ competition, sponsored by Bollinger, was announced for the Gain Horse Feeds St Leger Day on Sunday, September 16.

Instead, it was a classier affair altogether as the vintage style of eighty-something Youghal lady Elizabeth Gillen blew away the competition to claim the most stylish prize.

Celebrity judges Darren Kennedy, Alison Canavan and Kristeen O’Sullivan judged the field of fillies who were ‘dressed to kill’ to mark the upcoming release of the latest James Bond flick ‘Skyfall’. Conor Dillon from Swords won the gents’ prize and Nicole Caldwell took the ‘best hat’ award.

The winners received tickets to the Skyfall premiere with a stay in the Shelbourne Hotel and a Sony Xperia T mobile.
