PUNCHESTOWN Racecourse will the first Punchestown Loop 5k fun fun on Sunday April 14.

Starting at noon, the 5k course will bring competitors around the “loop” of the world renowned racetrack, finishing across the famous course finishing line.

There is also a 1k race and novelty races for children and - for the less competitive - face painting, tea and refreshments.

Richie Galway of Punchestown Racecourse said, “Punchestown Racecourse is an ideal venue for a 5k fun run and is suitable for all ages and abilities.

“Our race festival takes place the following week, so it is a good opportunity for people to see what the horses are put through”.

All funds raised are going to a building fund for Ballyshannon National School.

The event is open to runners and walkers. Entry is available at www.runireland.com and is E12 for adults. Entry on the day before 11am is E15 per competitor. Entry to the 1km children’s race is E5 and E1 for the novelty races.

It is the cheapest 5km race in the county” said Race Director, Rossa O’Donnell.

“While we are trying to raise funds for a good cause, we also want to promote running and make races like this attainable for as many people as possible”.
