SHOWBIZ legends and up and coming talent from all over Leinster and Kildare enthralled over 550 people at the inaugural Leinster Entertainment awards, in aid of Rehab and Kildare MS, at the Killashee House Hotel, Naas last week.
Chief organiser and Rehab area fundraising manager, Matt Browne, said he was bowled over the success of the event which was held on Monday, April 18.
“It was absolutely brilliant, one of the best shows I have ever been involved in and I have been involved in show business for 35, 40 years. It was like a TV show, we had big screens taking up half the ballroom wall, it was a massive production. We had all the experts involved.
“Every act gave a terrific performance. There was a queue outside at 6.30pm and the doors weren’t due to open until 7pm. We had the Conquerors as the main act and they were brilliant. We had four and a half hours of top class entertainment. It was absolute heaven,” he beamed.
Matt praised his fellow committee members, Dymphna Murphy and Liam Kett of KFM as well as John Kelly, for their hard work.
The Leinster Entertainment Awards was held in aid of Rehab and Kildare MS. With such a successful night, it is hoped it will become an annual event. The following list of award winners received awards on the night: Michael English, Mike Denver, Larry Cunningham, Johnny Peters, Des Willoughby, Tony Bird, Dominic Kirwan, Phillip English, Mick Dunne, Kym Kelly, Crystal Swing, Just 2, Jane McNamee, The Dolan Band, Derek Ryan, the Silken Thomas Players, Bending the Strings, The Druids, CC Cooper, Joe Stanley and Paul Flynn.
