Twinkle toes from both Clane Lawn Tennis Club and Clane United FC will join forces as the two clubs stage ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Bank Holiday Sunday, October 26 at the Westgrove Hotel.
It’s expected to be a an exciting event with men and women from the town taking part. And already tickets are selling well for what’s expected to be the fundraising event of the year.
There are 12 couples participating in the event, aged 21 - 60, and all from the Clane area and some various sport clubs.
The couples who are signed up and busily practicing their moves for the past few months are Kevin Dunne who will pair up with Michelle McCormack, Harriet Ormonde takes to the dance floor with Peter Moore (Postman), Eric Collins will pair up with Sarah McCabe, Sinead Carew and Paul Hinch, Ritchie Mahony and Leonie Ward Wilson.
Nellie Travers will dance with Dermot McGuire, Andrew Duff and Jessica McKenna, Lisa O’Connor and Darin Ryan, Vinny Fitsimons and Cathy Dalton, Gervaise Casey and Niall Conroy, Brendan Corbett and Sandra Crowley and finally Cliona Connolly will pair up with Andy Stallord.
Organisers say there is huge interest around the town with posters and banners promoting the event.
Dancers have been rehearsing twice weekly over the past three weeks and will continue to do so until the big occasion.
Tickets are available from Parish Shop, Manzor’s Gift Shop, Marrons Pharmacy, Q&M and the Tennis Club.
The Leinster Leader understands that more than 300 tickets have already been sold.
