Mick Dowling of BME Handball Club won his third Golden Masters title last weekend in a Kildare vs Sligo final, making this his third consecutive year in a row to secure the Grand Master title.

Despite the provincial advantage to Francie McCann of Sligo, a multiple All-Ireland winner, Dowling’s impressive fitness saw him take the title at Curraghboy, Roscommon with relative ease: 21-13, 21- 6.

A contingent of supporters from the village traveled to support Mick and were delighted to see him make it ‘three in a row’.

Mick’s previous outing against Cork’s John Herlihy in the semi-final was a tighter contest with the Ballymore man clinching the game in the third set: 21-14, 17-21, 21-11. Ballymore Handball Club is hopeful that his superb form will continue into the World Handball Championships this year and see Kildare – and Ballymore - have a spoil of the silverware.
