Kildare horticulture projects tops at Bloom

SEVEN Kildare projects won medals at Bloom, Ireland’s large gardening festival in the Phoenix Park over the weekend, writes Henry Bauress.

The event included 27 show-gardens, 100 Irish food and drink producers, 40 nurseries and 160 retailers all on a 70 acre site.

A Kildare garden design Winners was Andy Kelly from Prosperous, who won a bronze medal for his garden called ‘Starberry Paradise Garden’ sponsored by The Blueberry Growers Association

David Shorthall from Carbury also won a bronze medal for his garden called ‘Changing Perspectives’ in association with the Rehab Group.

In the nursery section Flannerys Nurseries Ltd from Staplestown took home a bronze Medal and Garden Direct from Ballyteague won a bronze medal.

Herb’s on Thyme from Rathangan and Doran Nurseries from Donadea won a silver medal.

In the floral design category, Richard Delmar, Newbridge Flower Club, took away two silver gilt medals and Christine Hughes, Naas Flower Club, won a bronze medal.
