Nurney mum Cathy Furlong made her television modelling debut last week.

The hairdresser reached the final of a national competition to find a curvy fashion model to represent plus-sized fashion chain Tempted.

Cathy, 35, runs two hair salons and a barbers as well as being a mum to three children.

The TV3 modelling session, presented by Sinead Desmond, was aired on Tuesday last, May 29.

Stylist Cathy O’Connor talked the finalist models through the latest range of summer fashion from Tempted, which has outlets in Carlow, Wexford and Raheny.

Cathy wore a nautical look, along with a blue mesh tunic and linen pants, for her television modelling debut.

The Tempted competition was to find women sized 16 plus to represent the fashion line, and attracted hundreds of entries, according to the organisers.

“Being curvy and voluptuous, or being super slim, should not stop anyone from wearing whatever they want, as long as they feel good about themselves. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes!” said Cathy.

The competition was eventually won by Limerick girl Sinead O’Brien.

It’s not the first time a Lily has been the face of the plus-sized boutique. Fashion model Vicki Maloney from Ballitore, herself a previous SimplyBe.ie model finalist, is one of the chain’s best known faces.
