The search for the next Miss Punchestown, who will be the queen of the Irish National Hunt Festival, has kicked off.
For the seventh year in a row, TV3 weatherman Martin King will MC the charity event. Celebrity judges who will pick the finest Punchestown filly include TV3’s Xpose presenter Glenda Gilson, The Apprentice’s Brian Purcell, model Georgia Salpa, photographer Jenny McCarthy and the Leinster Leader’s own Shane Keegan.
The competition will again be run in aid of Irish Motor Neuron Disease, and last year raised thousands of euros for this worthy cause. The nationwide contest is open to all girls 18 years or older, and the competition will take place in the Naas Court Hotel, Naas, Co Kildare on Friday, April 29 at 8pm. The lucky ladies will be escorted by handsome local boys Eamonn Moran and Diarmaid King. The Irish National Hunt Festival at Punchestown runs from Tuesday, May 3 to Saturday, May 7 next.
The judges are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic girl who will represent both the festival and the charity in public appearances.
TV3’s Martin King said: “This is my 7th year to host this prestigious event it’s a great way to kick off the festival. It’s on a Friday night this year so I’m sure that everyone will be out to support their favourites and it’s for such a great cause too. Personally I look forward to this night more than I do the races.”
