More than 150 cyclists took part in the annual Clane Christmas Cycle.

Now in its 23rd year, the cycle takes place on Christmas morning and has raised thousands to help vital charities.

To date, this year’s event has raised €9,000 with sponsorship still coming in.

Last Friday, presentations were made to the following organisations and charities: St. Brigids Hospice €5,000, John Sullivan Centre €1,000, Guide Dogs €1,000, Naas Diabetic Centre €1,000, Sallins Lourdes Fund €500, the Hangout Club €200.

Organisers say all extra monies will be divided in the coming weeks.

And they thank all who contributed to make the event a great success.
