The 2012 ‘Jog for Jockeys’ 5km run will be held at 12 noon at The Curragh racecourses on Sunday, July 29 and all are welcome to sign up and come on board.
Actor and ex-comedian, Paddy Courtney, and world-famous jockey, Johnny Murtagh, are on board to support this year’s 5 km Jog for Jockeys at the Curragh in aid of the Irish Jockey’s Accident Fund.
Seven-time Irish Champion Jockey, Ruby Walsh, 17-time British Champion Jockey, AP McCoy, and local leading jockey Andrew McNamara will be in attendance at Limerick racecourse. Musician Mick Foster of Foster and Allen and Champion National Hunt Jockey, Davy Russell, will be in attendance at Leopardstown. Last year over 780 people took part and raised €25,000 for the Irish Jockeys Accident Fund.
The Irish Jockeys Accident Fund is dedicated to helping injured jockeys when ever needed and has helped more than 1,000 jockeys over 40 years who have had their careers ended due to injury.
“We are delighted to be running the ‘Jog for Jockeys’ again this year,” said Organiser, Audrey O’Dwyer “Participation costs only €25 and includes a goodie bag and T-shirt. You can enter online at www.jogforjockeys.ie.
“Just like last year there will be a great atmosphere on the three courses and we really do want people to take part – you can walk or run it, it’s really all about participation!”
