A young Naas singer is rocking the music world in more ways than one.

Michelle Phelan of Lakelands is currently living in Paris with her partner Pete McGrane, the other half of the very popular band Carosel.

Michelle was invited to speak at Midem in Cannes, an international music conference and she was giving a voice to artists at the conference as well as being an Irish ambassador for music.

She gave a panel talk with Tim Quirk from Google Music, discussing the new approach to the music industry with direct-to-fan interactions, which was a huge success and featured in Billboard magazine, which quoted Michelle’s views extensively.

Michelle was also a Midem ambassador this year and interviewed some people at the event including Mark Mulligan, a music industry strategist; Irish man Stephen O’Reilly the Director of Sales for Mobile Roadie (they make all the music apps for iphone and ipad); Dave Haynes from Soundcloud; Martyn Davis of Six Two Productions (he ran Hack Day for Midem and formerly worked for the BBC and Universal Records).

Carosel had a busy time last year touring France and were featured on TV in Australia as well as movies in Japan and Korea.
