The pupils of fourth class at Ballysax National School got a taste of ‘La Vie Francaise’ recently when they were paid a visit by their penpals from the St Bernard School in Cambrai in the North of France.

The 18 French youngsters, accompanied by their two teachers, spent three nights in Kildare and visited local tourist attractions.

One of the highlights of their visit was an Irish night in the Silken Thomas, Kildare town, on Wednesday April 18. There was plenty of Irish singing and dancing, an open mic night for the children to perform and dancers from the Vicky Barry Dance School, Donoghue Dance School and solo performers.

A raffle was also held in aid of the Parents Association of Ballysax National School
