This week we are looking for forever homes for two very special dogs, Beatrice and Toby.
Beatrice is a four year old beagle/fox hound cross. She arrived to the shelter last year in very poor condition. She was suffering from malnutrition but was also heavily pregnant.
We fed her small meals often and started to build her condition up. Two weeks after arriving, she gave birth to nine healthy puppies. From the moment the first one was born Beatrice was an excellent mother. Even in her poor condition Beatrice successful raised all nine puppies. They all were in forever homes by the time they reached ten weeks of age. She hasn’t being as lucky and is still waiting for that perfect home.
Beatrice is a great dog all round. She is great with other dogs and enjoyed the company of them. She is also good with cats but would be best suited to go to a home where the cat of the house is confident and is used to dogs. She is good with children and would suit an active home where she has plenty of space to run around and be brought on long walks.
Toby arrived to the shelter before Christmas, also in poor condition and was suffering from mange. He went into a great foster home who cared for him and gave him plenty of basic training.
He hadn’t the best of starts but has turned into a fabulous young dog. Toby is now six months old, he is great with other dogs and is good with cats. He is a clever dog that loves playing with toys. He would suit an active home with older children.
If you would like to know more about Beatrice, Toby or the many animals we have for rehoming please visit our shelter. We are open daily to visitors looking to rehome an animal from 2pm – 4pm.
All our animals are vet checked, neutered (6 months plus), fully vaccinated and treated for parasites. An adoption fee is asked for to help offset some of our veterinary costs that each animal incurs. Unfortunately these fees will only help cover a quarter of our weekly vet bill, the rest we need to find from somewhere else. We also do home visits for every animal that we rehome. This is to make sure we match the right animal to the right home. They have already been rescued once we don’t want to return if at all possible.
Sometimes for genuine reasons the home does not work out, We ALWAYS welcome our animals back if this happens. So if you’re thinking of adopting a rescue dog get in touch today.
