Kildare town has indeed been struck by royal fever. A line-up of potential festival queens gathered at Aras Bhride last Tuesday night, May 31, to officially launch the Kildare Derby Queen gala night.
The selection of the Kildare Derby Queen kicks off the town’s week-long race festival celebrations. This year, the gala night takes place at the Derby House HOtel on Friday, June 17, at 8pm. Radio personality Noel Shannon will emcee the night, which is sponsored by Lily O’Brien’s and Newbridge Silverware.
A line-up of local fillies will be in the race to fill the shoes of last year’s popular winner, Tickets at E10 are available at the door. Kimberley Harrington. The new Queen will preside over the town’s Derby Parade on Sunday, June 19, and will win a VIP day out at the Derby, among other prizes. She will also be automatically entered into next year’s Kildare Rose competition.
