The third annual Run Kildare event comprising of a 10k, a half marathon and a full marathon will take place this year on Sunday May 13 2012 starting from the Curragh Racecourse.
“We are delighted to announce that we are well on our way to reaching our target of 3,500 plus runners attending all three events,” said organiser Fionnuala Finegan.
“There are to date a little fewer than 2,000 runners that have already signed up. It’s very exciting to see that a certain amount of those people are coming from overseas, with people from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Europe, and also runners from far flung places like the U.S.A., Australia and Africa, being represented at Run Kildare 2012.”
The three title charities this year are the Special Olympics Ireland, Marie Keating Foundation and The Society of St Vincent DePaul who will all have a large contingency of people representing their charities and running on their behalf at the event.
“In addition to our charity and local community support, we have set up a fund with the Kildare County Board Athletics Association to develop young Kildare athletes so they can reach their true potential through coaching and development. We have donated €2000 to date and we shall continue our support in 2012.”
