SPORT and politics don’t often mix very well.

But the exception to the rule was an encounter at Naas Town Hall last week.

Members of the Naas GAA Club, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the club, attended the Naas Town Council meeting.

Naas GAA Club was founded on 16 October 16 1887 in the Town Hall buidling. On Friday October 12, GAA President Liam O’Neill visited the club members fora social night which included the launch of the club photo display as part of the celebrations.

Club member Liam McManus gave a short presentation to the town council meeting on the club’s history followed by a blessing and short service in the club house at 8.30pm.

As part of the weekend’s celebrations, there was also an underage blitz with over 200 boys and girls playing camogie, football and hurling for the afternoon followed by a medal presentation from some of the Naas GAA senior players.
