A major fashion show will take place in Kildare town on Friday week, April 19, with all proceeds going to the running of this year’s Derby Festival, writes Laura Coates.
A group of local models visited the Carraig Donn store in Whitewater, Newbridge, last Thursday to officially launch the show.
It is hoped that the show will raise over E1,000 towards the running of the annual Derby Festival, which takes place in Kildare town in June to mark the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby on the Curragh
According to organiser Ollie Kearns, the reigning Festival Queen Shauna Channon and last year’s title holder Kelly Mackessy will both strut their stuff on the catwalk, along with some GAA stars.
Fashions from Coast, Carraig Donn, Dunnes Stores, Tescos, Amarra Bridal, V1 Style, Vanity Fair and By Design will feature, along with sports kit from Kildare Town Soccer Club and Kildare GAA.
Tickets are available from shops around Kildare town and the committee. The show will take place at 8pm in the Derby House Hotel.
A fundraising quiz night for the Derby Festival will also take place in the Silken Thomas at 9pm this Friday, April 12, and all support is welcome.
