“Two of a Kind”
Carbury Players present “Two of a Kind” by Sonny Kinsella at Carbury Community Centre from 25th – 28th March.
The late Sonny was also a founder member of the Carbury Players.
This particular play won many awards on the Festival circuit around Ireland and reached the All-Ireland Drama Festival in 1977.
Sonny was a prolific writer and wrote many plays and sketches.
This presentation of his play is a tribute to his life-time achievements.
In the play Eddie Moran makes his debut on stage playing the lead role of Malachy Douglas, Brigy Murphy plays Mrs Douglas, Darren Kelly plays Malachy’s brother Jim, Patsy Daly plays the local character Giblits Murphy, Deirdre Miggin plays Malachy’s wife Janice, Mairead Malone plays Nora King – Malachy’s ex-girlfriend, Thomas McNamara plays uncle Barney, Anne Cronly plays par-amour ‘Duckie Keaton’, Liam Hogan plays Dr. Harris.
Lighting is by Paddy Lavery, sound by Thomas Mooney, Set Construction by Eddie Moran, Ollie Miggin and Darren Kelly.
Continuity is by Liz Malone and Liz Lavery.
The play is directed by John Maguire.
The show starts nightly at 8pm. Admission is €8 for adults and €5 for students and senior citizens.
A huge crowd is expected in Dublin for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress which is taking place from Sunday, 10th – Sunday, 17th June. Volunteers will have an integral role to play in the success of the Congress. Between two and three thousand volunteers will be needed during the week of the Congress and also to assist in preparations in the months leading up to the Congress.
The Congress is planning for 80,000 participants in the closing ceremony; 25,000 participants each day; 12,000 international pilgrims, 5 continents and 2,500 young people.
This will be the biggest international event in Ireland in 2012, one that will have a significant impact for Ireland with the largest gathering of the Irish Catholic Church since 1979.

Samaritans need volunteers
The Newbridge branch of the Samaritans are seeking volunteers. Are you willing to give 3 or 4 hours a week to listen to those who are lonely, depressed and sometimes suicidal? No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. John & Barbara Mckeon of Drehid, Carbury are hosting a Coffee Morning for ‘The Cleft Lip and Palate Association on Saturday, 24th March from 10am -- 4.30pm. These much needed funds are to erect a new dedicated safe unit for children who are attending the National Maxillofacial Centre in St. James’ Hospital. Children with a Cleft Lip and Palate attend St. James’ Hospital from the age of 9 to 19 years old. This makes for over 1,000 visits per year to an acute adult hospital. We can’t prevent children from been born with a cleft lip and palate but we can make the treatment a better experience. Your support would be greatly appreciated for this worthy cause.
The Long Walk Home in aid of Ireland’s young homeless people will take place on May Bank Holiday.
