Rathcoffey GAA’s annual golf classic takes place this year on Saturday June 23 in Knockanally Golf Club. A morning reservation has been made with tee times available from 8 am to 12.30 pm. Hopefully the Saturday staging will encourage a full turnout of 30 four-balls.
The format will be as in previous years. The two best scores will count on each hole with all four counting on the 18th. A tenth of the combined handicaps will be allowed. There will be separate categories for full G.U.I. teams with Society handicaps. Players with no handicap will have a max of 18. In addition there will be a ladies category if there are more than two ladies teams.
The cost for each team of 4 is €160 (€40 per player). Prize giving will take place in the Clubhouse on Saturday night during the annual BBQ.

In preparation for the auditions for Clane Musical Societies next production Sweeney Todd which will be staged in the Abbey from October 30 to November 4, a music workshop is being held on Saturday 23rd June.
This workshop with Dave McGauran (musical director) is a preparation for the auditions which will be held on Sunday July 1. A music rehearsal will also be held on Wednesday June 27.

County Dog Wardens will be conducting door to door Dog Licence checks in the Clane area for June and July .Wardens use a computer data base to locate unlicensed dogs. On the spot fines can be issued to owners or people in charge of unlicensed dogs.
They will also be doing checks regarding dog control issues. Owners of Restricted Breeds need to be aware of the extra laws regarding their dogs which is dictated by Control of Dogs act and are also subject to fines for breaches of the legislation. License are available from any Post Office and cost €20
Huge congratulations from Clane GAA must be extended to the Boys school and their teachers as they completed a clean sweep of county titles over the last week. The lads won the u10 div1, u13 A & B titles. This is a massive achievement and it has not been done by any school in a long time.
Not forgetting the girls school, they have also won the clean sweep winning both the Senior Football & Camogie titles.
Huge praise must be extended to the teachers, Tommy Carew and all that helped the schools achieve this success.
The date has now been fixed for the Annual Clane GAA Cycle Fundraiser on Saturday August 25. Training is commencing next weekend for anyone interested in competing. There will be 3 routes this year so that it will incorporate all levels including a fun route for families & their children.
This is a great way to get fit whilst also meeting new people. Everyone is welcome to participate.
The numbers picked in the Clane GAA lotto draw on June 10 were 3, 7, 13 and 26. There was no winner of the jackpot of €5,850. The winners of €25 were John Flynn, Paddy White, Willie Hughes & Joe Gleeson. Next week’s jackpot is €6,000 and tickets cost €2 or 3 tickets for €5. Please support!
The draw for the 2nd round of the football championship was made and this sees us meeting Moorefield. The game will be played once the inter-county season has finished for Kildare.
Best of luck to the Senior Hurlers who play Naas on the weekend of June 30.
The U14B team are continuing to make great strides and have qualified for the semis away to either Naas or Moorefield.
The U16 football league is now finished and they are now looking forward to the championship after the exams.
The Minor footballers lost out on a league final place and are now preparing for their championship.
The championship draws for both the Minor & U16 championship will take place over the next week or so.
The u16 hurlers finished off their league campaign in great style beating Eire Og in the final and are now awaiting the championship after the exams.
Underage football & hurling training has resumed. The Tiny Tots football is on Saturday mornings in the club at 10.30am with the rest of the smaller underage football groups are up in the Boys School on Friday nights @ 6.45pm. The underage hurlers are up in the club at the usual time on Wednesday nights.
