Monster soccer field day

A monster field day at the soccer pitch this Sunday afternoon, June 24, run by Kildare Town Soccer Club as part of the Kildare Town Derby Festival.

This promises to be fun for all the family, with a boxing tournament, Irish dancing, hip-hop, a bowls tournament, a soccer tournament, a bouncy castle, pony rides, paint balling, a tae-kwando display, a Hole in One competition, a penalty shoot-out, a Man v Food Competition and much more. The fun will kick off at 2pm.

Registration for the club’s summer soccer camps will also take place on the day.

Dermot Earley to launch Derby parade

The Kildare town Derby Festival Parade will take place this Sunday, starting at Tescos at 2.15pm. Kildare footballer Dermot Earley will officially open proceedings. All are welcome to come along.

Kildare town bowls

Plans are well in place for the Annual Derby Festival Indoor bowls tournament run every year by above club. This takes place every night until June 23. Over 150 bowlers will be in action on various nights from 18.30 to 22.00. A chance to see the cream of Kildare/West Wicklow indoor bowlers in action.

Make it a date in the C.M.W.S. hall.

DVD club

A DVD club is taking place in Kildare town library. Members are given a modern and classic film every month, and then meet to discuss the films. All are welcome to sign up in the library (045 520235).

Community and Family Centre opens

The new community and family centre at the old De La Salle Brothers House, Teach Dara, is now open. All are welcome to come down and have a look at the new community facilities on offer.

Community Games swim and gymnastics

The Kildare Town community games swimming and gymnastics will take place during June.

Grow Your Own group in Kildare

A Grow Your Own group in Kildare town hosts meetings in the library on Thursday evenings. For more information, contact the library at 045 520235.

Derby Festival Queen

The Kildare town Derby Festival Queen pageant will take place in the Derby House Hotel this Friday night. All are welcome.

There is a prize of E1,000 cash for the winning lady, plus a VIP day out at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh, Newbridge Silverware and a direct entry into next year’s Kildare Rose competition.

The group meet each Wednesday evening at 8.30pm in the Carmelite Hall.

Country Market

Kildare Country Market takes place on Thursdays from 10am to 12 midday, with a selection of home baking, jams, marmalade, ree range eggs, seasonal vegetables and locally produced crafts.

NCBI shop customer evening

All donations are gratefully received. The shop stocks ladies, gents and children’s wear, shoes and handbags, bric-a-brac, books and toys. Volunteers are also needed to help out in the shop. For more information, call 087 1394325.

Old phones for kids charity

Sensational Kids is asking for donations of old mobile phones to get an I Pad for use by the therapy team who work with children with special needs at the charity’s child development and learning centre.

The charity is aiming to collect 165 old mobile phones which will enable them to obtain an I-Pad in exchange for recycling the phones.

Old mobile phones can be dropped into to posted to Sensational Kids at Unit F2 Kildare Business Park, Melitta Road, Kildare Town.

Practice every Monday and Thursday in the CMWS hall from 7to 9 pm.

Badminton club members

Kildare CMWS Badminton Club are seeking new members. The Club meets in the New Kildare Town Community School Dunmurry Road Kildare on four full size courts. Secondary School Students from 6pm to 7 pm (Limited places available).

Adults; 7 pm to 10 pm, Cost €5 per evening you attend.Coaching available.

Rehab Social Social Dancing for Rehab

Social Dancing starts in the newly re-vamped Dowlings of Prosperous each Wednesday and Saturday night in aid of REHAB. Dancing Wednesday.

Summer arts project

KARE Race evening at the Curragh

An evening at the Races in Aid of KARE, takes place at the Curragh Race Course on Saturday 21st July 2012.

Tickets are €15 and €10 from every ticket sold in advance goes directly to KARE to help them to continue to do the wonderful work they carry out all across Kildare, East Offaly and West Wicklow.
