Death of Pete Nolan
The town of Blessington lost one of its favourite sons last week with the death of Pete (Manager) Nolan Rockypool Crescent. The Manager as he was affectionately known around the town finally lost his very brave battle with a serious illness on Tuesday March 27 when he passed away in Tallaght Hospital. Pete was a GAA man through and through and outside of his family he lived for the GAA especially his beloved ‘Blues’. He was a lifelong member of Blessington GAA Club and having served on their committee in a variety of positions since 1959 was very proud when he was elected President of the club in recent years and just before his death was presented with a Life Time Achievement by his beloved ‘Blues’. There was a massive attendance both at his removal to the Church of Our Lady last Friday night and for his requiem mass and burial the next day. His coffin was carried both to the church and all the way to Burgage Cemetery by club members who also formed a guard of honour along the Town’s Main Street. Manager I am going to miss our Monday morning GAA chats over at Topaz. May you rest in peace?
