Public meeting

Kildare campaign against house hold and septic tank charges are holding a public information meeting in the art’s community centre, Woodstock Street, Athy on Tuesday July 3 at 8pm. Speaker’s Clare Daly TD and Gregor Kerr. Please come along and get involved. For further information contact 086-2656897.


On Saturday August 11, the Kilomarathon and 10K Race will start at Moone Village, the Kilomarathon at 10am and the 10K Race at 10.20am. Runners, walkers, joggers, wheelchairs, buggy’s all welcome. You can enter on line. To enter the Kilomarathon the cost is €30, and the 10K €20, entries up to August 2nd.

There will be an additional charge of €5 on entries after that date, entries allowed on the day. Entry and Registration is from 8am in the Community Hall, Moone. For further details from Tony Donoghue at Tony at 087 2645882.

Thank you

All at Grange want to say big thank you and congratulations to Trish and Melanie O’Brien who completed the Flora women’s marathon recently in aid of Grangenolvin GFC and St. Vincent’s hospital. Athy.


Grange held their €10 draw on Saturday June 16 in the High Cross Inn. Top prize of €1,000 went to John Leahy Jr. Heath farm, Second prize of €500 went to Orla O’Reilly Skenagun, Third prize of €200 went to Mary Murphy Kilkenny (seller B. Leahy), Joint fourth prizes of €100 each went to Maeve Cunnane and Luke, Michelle and Isobel Walsh, and Joint fifth Prizes went to Aaron Kelly and Eugene Byrne.

In the current economic environment the club fully acknowledges how much of a contribution ten euro is and it is a great reflection on all those who sold and purchased tickets in such testing times that it was a great success. The club sincerely wish to thank everyone who contributed in any way.


There was no winner of the lotto jackpot of €800 on June 19 and the numbers drawn were 3, 9, 12, 17. The match 3 winners were Jim Morrin, Rosaleen Lamb, James Byrne, Lorrawe and Sarah, Sadie Doyle and Diney Dunne. The €20 winners were Orla Reilly, Timothy Kelly, Ava and Ella, Paul Tighe and Aine Agar.

Congratulations to everyone, tickets can be bought at underage training on Saturday mornings please remember the importance of supporting the club lotto.

Thank you

The club would like to thank everyone both members and people from the wider community that have helped in so many ways so far this year. This is an exciting year for the club and the push is on to build for the future.

No ones contribution in this endeavour has gone unnoticed or unappreciated and with everyone’s dedication the club can only go from strength to strength.

Fun day

Active retired

The next meeting of South Kildare Active Retired will be in Molly O’Looney’s, Narraghmore on Thursday next, June 28.

Give rugby a try

Give rugby a try for just €10 for a two-day camp which will run from 9.30am to 1.30pm each day. No previous rugby experience required and boys and girls aged from six years up who want to try rugby in a safe, controlled environment are welcome. The venue is Moone Celtic Pitch on August 7 and 8, and the cost is €10.


Indoor bowls have commenced in Moone and will be held every Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. The Tutor is Muriel Hendy assisted by Jim Cullen. Beginners welcome!

Fit for life

Fit for Life is an exercise class especially geared towards older citizens. It means you can exercise without the strain of gym and weights. The Fit for Life team come down from Dublin every Wednesday to Moone Hall at 11.30am and the session lasts an hour. It is a mixed class, men and women, mostly over 55 who belong to S.K.A.R.I.

You can join any morning at the Fit for Life class or Tuesday afternoon at Bowls or at Molly’s and then you can take part in all the South Kildare Active Retired activities.

The annual membership is only €15 and you just pay separately for social meetings and whatever activities suit you best.

Blessing of the graves

The blessing of the graves will take place in Moone Cemetery on Sunday July 23 after 12 noon Mass. Please note change of date from the last Sunday of July to July 23.

Summer draw

The annual fund-raising Moone Parish Summer Draw will take place on Sunday July 8th. Tickets cost €2 each or book of 12 €20. All support much appreciated.

Parish cards

Cards in aid of Parish funds in Moone Parish Hall every tuesday evening at 9pm, single hand 25, top score €75. All card players welcome.

Table quiz

Castledermot and Kinneagh Parish have organised a Table Quiz to take place on July 13 in the Castle Inn, Castledermot commencing at 9pm. Why not organise a table of family and friends, a table of four will cost €40. There will be a raffle on the night. If you require further information or have items to donate as prizes for the raffle please get in touch with Hazel Colbourne.

Walking group

The Walking Group meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the High Cross Inn at 8pm. Participants are invited to donate one euro a night in support of St Brigid’s Hospice Kildare.

Women’s group

The Grange walking/exercise group has generated great interest. People have been turning out in good numbers. For information regarding same please contact Sabrina Dooley on 087/3220792. Pilate s Classes in Croi Anu Creative Centre, Moone at 6.45pm and 8pm every Monday evening.
