Ballytore clean up

Cllr. Martin Miley reminds us that there will be a clean up evening on monday the 21st May at 6:30pm in the village of Ballitore by Ballitore Tidy Towns. Gloves and litter pickers will be provided if people could bring shovels spades it would be great. Hope to see you all there.

Table quiz

Kilomarathon Ireland are hosting a fund-raising Table Quiz in Paddy O’Bien’s, Timolin at 8.30pm on Friday June 15 in aid of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. Table of four costs €40. Please support.

Pilates class

Pilates classes take place locally in Ballitore and Moone with Stott, a certified instructor. Classes are in The Meeting house from 9.30am and 9.15pm every Monday.

Pilate Classes in Croi Anu Creative Centre, Moone at 6.45pm and 8pm every Monday evening. New members welcome. €12 per session, concession with big group. Contact Amy Fitzgerald 086 0707114. Yoga class

Yoga Classes have commenced in the Meeting House from 10 to 11.30am. Breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation. Yoga helps in releasing tension,increasing flexibility, toning, strengthening and promotes relaxation. To book a place contact Adela 086 8717573

Scouting

The Scouts meet in Ballyshannon hall on the following nights:- Beavers on Monday nights for ages 6 - 8 years,

Shrines Of Northern Italy

This year the Ballitore Pilgrimage will be taking in the Shrines of Northern Italy leaving on September 25 to 2nd October. WALKING GROUP

The Walking group meet monday to friday at 7pm in Ballitore Village. If you would like to get out for a walk and a chat for one hour please come along any night, bring flash light, and jacket. There is no charge and all are welcome.

FRANCES WATCHORN DANCE CLASS

Dance practice continues every Friday evening in St. Laurence’s GAA (Old Hall). Beginners are from 6pm-7pm, and all other grades from 7pm-8.30pm. Registration is €5 followed by a fee of €3 per class. New members are always welcome from the ages of 4 upwards.

MILL CELTIC - LOTTO

There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot of €8,200 and the numbers drawn were 6/23/27 . The €20 winners were Martin Mackey, Crookstown, Maureen Cullen, Tara Moore, C. Connolly, and Cillian Mackey. Next Lotto Jackpot is €8,300 and the venue is The Harp in Ballytore.

TRAINING

ST. LAURENCE’S BADMINTON CLUB

St Laurence’s GAA Centre hosts a badminton club. Practice Sessions are held at the following times - Adults - Tuesday 8-10pm, and Friday 8-10pm. The Junior Club is on Saturday from 10 - 12pm. New Members are always welcome, just turn up on any of the times noted above. We try cater for all players, either social or competitive as there are 4 courts available for playing. St Laurence’s are the current Leinster Champions at grade 5 level.

Membership Fees - In Season Full year payment: €180 or Pay to Play - €5 on the Night, Plus a yearly insurance fee of €25. These fees cover the use of the Hall, Shuttles, Equipment, Insurance and Membership of Badminton Ireland. There is a Registration Form to be filled out by all members.

CAMOGIE CLUB

Dermot Breen, PRO reports “St Laurence’s Senior Camogie team finished their League matches with an easy win over Clane on Monday 7th May in Clane. Well done to Aoife Flynn, who came on as a sub and scored her first goal for at Senior level. Despite only losing one match, to Johnstown Bridge we just finished one point short of making the top two for a place in the League Cup Final but we have qualified to continue the campaign in the the League Shield competition

Hopefully by now we will be celebrating a win for the St Laurence’s/Athy combination in the U/16 Division 2 Final which was played in Eire Og on Sunday last.”

ANNUAL FIELD DAY

The annual field day will take place on Sunday June 10th at 2pm in Oldgrange.

GOLF CLASSIC

The annual golf classic will take place in Rathsallagh on the 27th July, contact Willie Keatley for further details.

SUMMER CAMP

At Laurence’s Summer Camp will run this year from July 9th to 13th inclusive . More details to follow very soon.

Membership is still open for 2012 and all young players in the area are welcome to join in the fun. Registration is available at each training session or from Marcella in reception Monday -Friday 5.30pm until 9.30pm.

SENIOR C TEAM

Senior C team won their sixth league game against Kilcullen. The Senior B’s last their league game to Sarsfields. Congratulations to the Girls under 16 who are league champions after beating Sarsfields in the league final.

UNDERAGE Go-Games

Marion Griffith, PRO reports “U/6’s & U/8’s played Sarsfields at home on Saturday May 5th. Larry’s playing a great game with a good turnout. Best for Larry’s were Ava Allen, Danny Rafferty and Nicole Whelan.

U/10 Red Team Played Tuesday night against Moorefield. Another great game from the U10’s with Callum McElhenney, Ruairi Clarke and Colm McMahon all putting in a great performance.

U/10 Amber team were also at home v Raheens, another good game and close. Best for Larries were Harry Mallon, James Sheedy and T.J. Keatley.

U/12’s A’s played Suncroft away on Thursday 10th, another great match and best for the Larries were Eoin Curley, Liam Horan and Niall O Connor.

U/12 Amber team played Moorefield away also on Thursday, a match of two halves with the Larries finishing up strong in the second half. Best for Larrys were Eoin Mason, Kevin Maher and Jack Rafferty.

U/12’s Red Team played Grange at home last Thursday, in poor conditions for football. The Larries lads put in a fine performance on the night. Best for Larries were Michael Kelly, Adam Mackey and team Captain Darragh Grufferty. Next Thursday they are at home against Sarsfields. Best of luck to all teams in the next round of go-games.

The U12’s and U14’s will have enjoyed a special night of coaching from our County Players in Hawkfield last Friday 11th May. Lots of tips for the matches ahead and jerseys autographed!

SUNCROFT FESTIVAL

St Laurence’s U/10’s and U/11’s travelled to Suncroft on Sunday 6th to play challenge matches as part of their festival. The U/10s had great game of football with Larryies just losing out by a goal, great game from Ross O’ Brien , PJ Cullen and Bell and Luke Gorman.

The U/11’s played for The Philip Murphy Memorial Cup, led by Team Captain Tom Sheedy. The game was level at full time and it took extra time to divide sides. Larries fitness carried them over the line and they look forward to defending the cup next year. Thanks to Suncroft GFC for inviting us over to take part in their festival.

UNDERAGE DISCO

On Friday 4th May the first teenage disco took place and was a great success. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped out. The night went extremely well and the club are running a second one on Friday 8th June. Tickets available at the clubhouse.

TRAINING

Underage training takes place in Oldgrange on a Wednesday night between 7pm-8pm and on Saturday Mornings between 11am-12pm.

LOTTO

This week’s lotto numbers were 7, 20 and 28. There was no jackpot winner; next week’s jackpot is €1,200. The €20 winners were Edward Kearney, Pat Lawlor, Frankie Lawlor, Tracy and Fiona Norton and Francis Doyle.

GYM MEMBERSHIP

Gym Membership for 2012 is student/over 55’s/ unemployed €100, single €150 and €250. Direct debit options are available. There are circuit classes held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.30am for advances and 10.15am for beginners. They are also held on Wednesday evenings at 7.10pm to 7.55pm. Classes are 45 minutes and are €4 per person and free to gym members. The gym opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9-12am and 5.30-10.30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 5.30-10.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 6-9pm.
