Newbridge Drama Group woo Audiences

Amateur drama in Kildare is going through a rich vein at present with talented performances from the many groups throughout the county. Last week Newbridge audiences were treated to another uplifting performance, this time from Newbridge Drama Group’s production of ‘My Son is Crazy but Promising.’ The play which was directed by Justin Brady featured stunning performances from an all-star cast comprising Sean McIllroy, Noreen Donnelly, Mary Doyle, Colm Feeney, Mary Walsh, Jo McMahon, Cormac Brady, Conor Byrne, Brid Hernon-Hoey, Esther Crilly, Frank Gregg, Aoife Byrne, Brid Leddy, and the irrepressible Mick Malone. A side-splitting, fast moving farce-this was just the remedy to help us forget about austerity.

Likes of the Week

Dominick’s Park Estate, Newbridge, is always beautifully maintained by the residents. Individual gardens display a sense of pride and the public areas are for the most time litter free. A credit to all concerned. Yes, there are other estates worthy of mention and they will be covered in due course. How about someone sponsoring a prize for the overall winner as adjudicated by an appropriate body?

The initiative undertaken by Roseberry residents who embarked on a cleanup of their own local area last week of the roadside and hedgerows which lead out to the bog is also worthy of a mention. This is a popular route for many walkers and it is a shame that the beautiful surroundings are sometimes defiled by unscrupulous dumping.

Postal stamp vending machines which are all too frequently out of order! Can it be that difficult to ensure they are promptly repaired so we don’t have to join long queues to purchase a stamp?
