The late PJ Keegan
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of PJ Keegan. PJ is one of the founders of Newtown Rovers Football club and the President of our club. Following a chance meeting with him in March 2010 PJ was given our idea to set up a football club in Booleigh but we had one problem, finding a football pitch!
That problem was solved with him generously given us a portion of his field and 2 years on it’s one of the finest pitches in the league.
He regularly attended meetings and was an integral part of moving the club on. He never said no when we wanted to add things to the grounds or the club and was always so positive.
There’s not many men can say they had the FAI premier league champions playing in their back yard with Shamrock Rovers playing us there last year. He was also a big supporter of the national team.
Newtown Rovers offer there condolences to his family on this sad occasion our thoughts and prayers are with them. Rest in Peace PJ.
