Juvenile hurling training takes place every Friday evening in Ardclough GAA Club from 6pm onwards. This includes the nursery group (ages 4-6), Under 8, Under 9, Under 10 and Under 12. Boys and girls of all ages and standards are catered for. First Communion Day is on this Saturday May 19 in Ardclough at 11am and on Saturday May 26 in Kill.
Getting ready to start school
New Junior Infants (2012) who will be starting school in St. Anne’s National School, Ardclough, will visit the school on May 25.
Kill Tidy Towns
The next meeting of Kill Tidy Towns group is a special meeting which will take place on Tuesday May 15 at 8pm in the Parish Centre. All members are urged to attend.
Attention Glendara residents
The Glendara aerial/ television fee for 2012 is now due. Collection of the E80 will be held in the Kill GAA hall between 7.30 and 10pm on Thursday May 17.

Kill History Group
The next meeting of Kill History Group is on Monday May 28 which will include a talk on “The Congo” by Maj. Gen. Bill Dwyer (Rtd.). The final meeting before the summer break is on Monday June 25 when the title of the talk will be “Are you mad also?” when Ciaran Mc Cabe will detail the events surrounding the murder of RIC Sergeant Michael Rogan and his family in Ballinadrumna near Enfield 1882.
Both meetings take place in the Parish Meeting Room at 8.30pm.
In preparation for the Eucharistic Congress, Eucharistic Adoration will take place on each Sunday of May from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Kill GAA lotto
On May 8, the winning numbers in the Kill GAA lotto draw were 2, 11, 13 and 20. No one won the jackpot. The E200 prize was divided between four winners - Robert Byrne; Jenny Casey; Sylvia Kavanagh and Deborah Power. The next jackpot is E9,000.
Kill GAA briefs
Membership is now due for 2012. Family membership is E120, adult membership E60, student and juvenile membership costs E50 and social membership is E25.
The juniors footballers defeated Ballyteague in the latest round of the league on a score line of 2-12 to 3-03, the goals coming in either half from Ciaran Behan. This was the team’s best performance of the season so far with excellent performances from Donal O’Kelly, Paul Kirwan and Conor O’Hagan all helped achieve this victory.

Ardclough GAA Club will be open on Saturday May 19 for the Heineken Cup Final and the Champions League Final. There will also be great music that night with “Steely Booley.” Admission is free and free food will also be available.

International Euchatistic Congress
Diocesan Pilgrimage to the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in the RDS is on Tuesday June 12. Tickets E30. Contact the parish office to book your ticket immediately. The Friends of Naas Hospital are holding a cake sale at the Hospital on May 16th from 9.30am to noon. Donations of home baking welcome, or come along and buy some of the wonderful goodies on offer to support Friends Of Naas Hospital.
Visit to Carbury Castle
The members of Naas Local History Group and friends will be guests of Mr Seamus Cullen when they visit Carbury Castle next week. The visit will include inspection of the Colley Vault in the Church of Ireland to learn about the Colley Family and the Royal Family connection - following in the tracks of “The County Kildare Ancestors of Queen Elizabeth.” Assemble at Ballycane Church at 7pm on Thursday 17 May.

Stories for the Ear invitation
Kildare County Council Arts Service is inviting applications for the third volume in the Stories for the ear series. Young writers aged 12 - 21 living in or from County Kildare are invited to submit a short story to be included in the series. Now in its third year, Stories for the Ear is an audio showcase of sriters from the county. Volume one and two can be heard on www.kildare.ie/artsservice. To assist young writers in harnessing their literary talent, curator Neil Donnelly will host a series or creative writing workshops in April and May across Kildare in secondary schools and libraries. Dates and times will be on the website address above. Successful writers will have their story professionally recorded in the Platform4 audio and digital media studio, receive a one off payment of E120 for having their story included, receive 10 copies of their story on CD, have their work showcased on the Kildare Arts Service website and Youtube channel. Friday June 1 is the closing date.
Aspergers - making friends
An information evening on “Helping Children and Teens With Aspergers To Make Friends” for parents, teachers and individuals who work with young people with aspergers is taking place in Naas Library on Tuesday May 22 at 7pm. Issues that will be covered include: exploring the obstacles that can be faced by these children/teens when making friends and methods for enabling friendship development.
