Corpus Christi Procession
To mark the beginning of the Eucharistic Congress the parish will hold the annual Corpus Christi Procession on June 9 starting from the church in St Raphael’s on the Clane Road at 5.30pm. After prayers, the procession will make its way to the parish church for Mass and the beginning of forty hours adoration.
Suzuki Summer Concert
The Celbridge Suzuki Group will hold its Summer Concert on Saturday June 16 at 7.30pm. The event will be held in Christchurch at the gates of Castletown, by kind permission of the Rector, the Reverend Sandra Hales and the Select Vestry. The concert will feature young violinists in a performance of the Suzuki repertoire, which includes many favourite classical works. Call 087-2922587 for ticket enquiries.
There will be a Family Fun Day in the grounds of Scoil na Mainistreach on Sunday June 10. From 2-5pm all the young people can enjoy field games, fancy dress, face painting and free entertainment provided by Gymboree. For adults there will be cake and book stalls and the wheel of fortune. A variety of foods will be available, plus tea and coffee.
Summer in the Library
Now that summer is here why not make a trip to Celbridge library with your family and find out what’s on offer. Family week is an ideal opportunity for families to kick start their summer, with a series of cultural events that will appeal to all ages. The events include:
Reach for the Stars with Theatre Rua – Clown, Puppet and Picture Book - on Monday June 18 at 11am.
Uncle Dan from the Twitters, singing children’s folk songs, will entertain parents and children for an hour on Wednesday June 20 starting at 11am. Dan drew great crowds when he played in Castletown House recently, so this gig should not be missed.
Niall de Burca is one of Ireland’s finest traditional storytellers and is in Celbridge Library on Thursday June 21 from 3.30 to 4.30 pm.
Brewery of Eggshells, comprising Nuala Hayes and Kate Corkery, will entertain with storytelling and song on Saturday June 23 at 2.30pm.
Library Book Clubs close for the summer in June and will recommence in September. Anyone wishing to be part of the general book clubs or Murder Mystery club can put their name down now for September. During the summer the Library organises a Summer Reading Challenge to keep up children’s interest in reading during the school holidays. Music in Great Houses
The spiritual home of the Music in Great Irish Houses festival, Castletown House is the stunning setting for an alluring recital by Chinese guitar sensation Xuefei Yang and the Elias Quartet.
This event on Sunday June 17 in the Long Gallery at 3pm will include works for solo guitar by Rodrigo and the JS Bach Concerto in A minor for Guitar and String Quartet as well as music by Boccherini and Dvorak.

Tours of Castletown House are available Tuesday - Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays between 10am and 5pm, until the end of October. The Castletown parklands are open to enjoy and explore during daylight hours throughout the year.
There is free access to OPW Heritage Sites, including Castletown House, on the first Wednesday of every month. Please note: The free day is aimed at the independent traveller and does not apply to group bookings. The next free day is June 6.
There are free music recitals each Sunday taking place within the environs of the Main House, Colonnades and Stable Wing. The well-known Vanbrugh Quartet is scheduled to play on the afternoon of June 10.
The next Country Market and Craft Fair will be on June 24 from 11am-5pm.
North Star Club

Youth tag rugby league
There is a new Youth Tag rugby League’s starting in NUIM Barnhall RFC from Thursday June 7 at 6.30pm and will run for 6 weeks.There will be an U15 mixed (girls and boys) league and an U18 Mixed (girls and boys) league. This is a non-contact sport and is great for keeping fit and having fun.
There are twelve players and the game is played as a 7 a side with 5 subs.
There must be at least 3 girls on the pitch at all times. Also every Thursday there will be music and BBQ in the Club, so great fun for all. History of the Mill
Celbridge Mill is very much the centre of sport and voluntary activity in Celbridge. The building itself has a long history which is detailed in an interesting book by local author and community activist Maureen Abbott.
The Story of Celbridge Mill is on sale from the Reception of the Mill Community Centre and in various shops around the village. Only E10 this fascinating book gives a great insight to the long and varied history of this magnificent building that still stands tall in the heart of Celbridge.

Volunteers needed for Sunflower Day

Fit for summer
If you fancy a spot of light exercise for all the family why not book a Badminton court for E10 at a time to suit you at the Mill Community Centre. Badminton is the ideal family game for 2-4 players.
Racquets and shuttles are provided and there are a total of four courts available. If it’s table tennis you prefer, you can book a table for a small subscription with bats and balls supplied.
If you are going soccer crazy in the run-up to the European Championships then get the gang together for a game at the Mill.
