Dunlavin & District Forum have recently submitted an application to Wicklow County Council for full planning permission, for the development of a community playground, sensory garden, adult and teenager toning area and multi used games area (MUGA)

In the first of a number of fund raising events, 57 ladies (of all ages) from the locality,took part in the Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin on the June Bank Holiday weekend. A great day was had by all, and a large crowd turned out to welcome them home ,where music and refreshments were the order of the night.

Pony Show

A pony show will take place on June 16th at 2pm in Dr. Mary and Michael Kearney’s field.

Dog Show

A dog show will take place on Sunday June 17th at 2pm on the Cow green. Get Grooming!

Well done

Congratulations to Amy Barrett, Meringstown on finishing 5th in the Community Games Solo singing competition, Amy just lost out by one point. Amy is the daughter of Dave and Antoinette Barrett.

Summer Camps

Golf Summer Camps will take place in Rathsallagh Golf Club each Saturday from 2-3pm. This caters for 6-14 year olds. Price €10 includes range balls and chocolate bar. No booking, just come along.

Ladies Social Morning

Ladies social morning in Rathsallagh Golf Club Monday and Wednesday 10.30-11.30am includes golf lesson and coffee afterwards. €15, no booking necessary.

30th Dunlavin Festival of Arts.

The 30th Dunlavin Festival of Arts kicks off on June 15th with a full weekend of events taking place. The festival will be officially opened on Friday 15th at 7pm by Mark Deering (Sky Ireland) There will be a huge variety of art on display in 6 different spaces.

A special 30th birthday cake made by Lily Mulcahy will The musical Showboat will be performed open air in Deering’s Milltown at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday evening and 3pm on Sunday June 17th.

A juvenile disco will take place in the Imaal Hall from 18.30-21.00pm and a Set Dance Ceili in the Jonathan Swift Hall at 21.30pm.

Saturday will feature Children’s Theatre, Children’s Bakery Competition Display, Horse Show, and Bingo in the Imaal Hall.

Sunday the Annual Craft Fair takes place in the Imaal Hall, A Family Fair will take place on Dunlavin Green along with the Children’s Parade.

The dog show will take place on the Green at 10.00pm. Lots of fun for all the family over the weekend.


Sympathy is extended to the family of Peter Sexton, Church Road, who died last week following an illness. Peter is mourned by his wife Mary, son Brian, daughter-in-law Jackie, grandchildren Jason and Emma, sister Mary and brother Mike. Funeral took place in Dunlavin following Mass on Friday June 8th at 12noon 2012. May Peter rest in peace.

Set Dance Ceili

A set dance ceili will take place on June 15th 2012 at 9.30pm in the Jonathan Swift School Hall. Proceeds in aid of St. Brigids Hospice on the Curragh.

Kildare Steiner School

Jonathan Swift National School

A car boot sale will take place in the school grounds during the Festival of Arts on Sunday June 17th from 12noon to 6pm. Cars €10, Vans €15. Set up from 11am.

On June 29th Rathsallagh Golf Club are hosting a major fundraiser for the Jonathan Swift school. Please support this fun golf event followed by BBQ and music. Golfers :4 ball plus BBQ €50. BBQ €25. Enrolments are now being taken for a Fetac Level 5 in Business and office Administration for September 2012. The course is full time, however it may be possible to facilitate those applying who may wish to complete it in 2 years.Student Grants available. Bingo takes place in the Imaal Hall every Saturday night at 9pm. The funds raised by the Bingo go towards the upkeep of the Imaal Hall and well worth supporting.
