Caragh GAA: Sponsor Our Jerseys
The club would like to thank all the local businesses who supported the “Sponsor Our Jerseys” fundraiser. The draw took place on St. Patrick’s Day and the winning ticket belonged to local beauty salon owner, Suzanne Walsh of Pure Beauty. The second prize went to Leo Harmon who gets a free sign in St. Farnan’s Park. Third prize went to Joey Taafe, Blacktrench, who received a €100 voucher for Richie Whelan’s Menswear in Naas. Thanks to Fr. Pat who drew the winning ticket and to everyone involved in this very successful fundraiser.
Caragh GAA’s Annual Poker Classic is almost upon us again. Once again, it will take place in the club-house at 9pm on Good Friday night. Cost of entry will be €30 with the facility to top up by €20 ( max 2 top-ups). Prize Pool is a guaranteed €1,000, a very generous pool in these straitened times! Last year’s Classic was a huge success and we believe that this year’s event will be even better. Tea, sandwiches, cakes, tarts et al will be served on the night. St Farnans played host to six fixtures on holiday Monday, first on the small sided pitch was our U10 Premier side who lost in a tight match 3-2 to Bush Celtic, next on were the U10 Major 1 team and they were level going into the final quarter but they increased their tempo and won 4-1 over Newbridge Town.
Last on the small sided was the U11 Major 1 team and they had a thrilling 3-3 draw with Arlington with neither team giving an inch. On the big pitch the U13’s were in League action against Liffey Celtic and it was the away team who grabbed a controversial goal deep into time added on for a 3-3 draw, the U15’s never got going in their League match against neighbours Sallins Celtic but were never out of the game just going down 3-1.
Last up was the U14 Cup and it was the home side that were in devastating form and ran out 6-0 winners, booking a place in the quarter finals.
We had two teams in action away, the U9’s travelled to Castledermot only to narrowly lose 2-1 to Castle Villa in a very close game. The U11 Major team battled back from 2-0 down to grab a fantastic 2-2 draw in Newbridge.
