Busy agenda at Rathangan CORE meeting
It was onwards and upwards at the final meeting, before the Summer Break at the Rathangan CORE Group meeting held on Wednesday June 6.
The principal good news was conveyed by Cllr Fiona O’Loughlin that the Waterloo (Drummonds) site has been rezoned to amenity use, which will ensure that this potentially wonderful amenity can now be developed for Community use.
The office at the former Credit Union Office is now operational on Mondays and Tuesdays where you can get details of what is going on in the Community Centre, book the Community Centre for you group or private event, get an up to date list of what Groups and Organisations are in Rathangan and advertise your Group to the Community, find out when the next CORE Group meeting is on, checkout the Community Directory, explore what to do and see in and around Rathangan, get information on local business and what they offer, register you Residents Association with the Office, receive information updates and Community Alert News.
The Offices also serve as a base for the Tus Workers who are doing great work with the Tidy Town, Kilnthomas Wood etc.
The RCAB Security Group reported that they hope to have First Responders ready to operate the defibrillators in the next month.
There was also a discussion on the possibility of establishing a ‘Mens Sheds’ Group, anybody interested should contact the Community Office.
On the fund raising front, a number of useful suggestions were made which are being investigated.
The meeting ended with a discussion on the Government’s proposed National Homecoming Festival next year and the Group are anxious that a suitable programme can be arranged.
A meeting will be held in September where it is hoped everybody with ideas will attend, so get your thinking caps on over the Summer and tell your overseas friends and relatives to ‘pencil in’ a visit home in 2013.
The next CORE Meeting is on Wednesday September 12th at 8.30pm in the Old School House.
