‘Big Maggie’

With the Easter break approaching the cast of Clane Musical Societies production of ‘Big Maggie’ are putting the final touches to the popular John B. Keane play. The play is set in 1960s rural Ireland. It is a portrayal of a newly widowed woman who views her husband’s death as a liberation. Maggie seizes her opportunity to take absolute control of the family farm and business, and denies her four children their share and in turn drives each one away. It is an entertaining play with an underlying sadness. ‘Big Maggie’ is directed by Sadie O’Reilly and is set in the Polpin Grocery store. Tickets for ‘Big Maggie’ which will be staged in the Abbey from Wednesday 11th to Saturday 14th April at 8pm each night are on sale in Marron’s Pharmacy, Clane or by contacting Anne Noonan at 087-6897376. Tickets will also be available on the door. A great night’s entertainment is guaranteed.
