Kilomarathon Ireland are hosting a fund-raising Table Quiz in Paddy O’Brien’s, Timolin at 8.30pm on Friday June 15 in aid of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. Table of four costs €40. Cash prizes for winners and runners-up - raffle and prizes on the night followed by an auction. Your support would be very much appreciated.
Timolin School has recently been awarded its second green flag as well as achieving its first award in Primary Science and Maths excellence. On June 29 at 10.30am there will be an end of year service in Timolin Hall followed by the raising of our new green flag. We congratulate the teachers and pupils on these wonderful achievements.
We extend our best wishes to the following who will move on to secondary school in September, Alley Stanley, Gary Hendy, Brandon Kelly and Jordan Stanley. We hope that they and the other pupils as well as the teachers have an enjoyable and relaxing summer.
Blessing of pets
On Sunday June 24 there will be a Blessing of Pets Service in Timolin at 11.30am. Why not bring your pets along to be blessed which will take place outside (weather permitting) or in the hall (if raining).

We extend our best wishes and prayerful support to Sylvia Treacy from Kinneagh parish who was recently commissioned to serve for a second three-year term of office as diocesan president of GFS.
The parish healer prayer group organised an evening service of wholeness and healing on Sunday April 29 in St James Church Castledermot. Ann Hendy welcomed everyone to the service and outlined the ministry of prayer of the healer prayer group. Canon Mervyn Mc Cullagh, Rector of Baltinglass gave a very thought provoking address, speaking openly about his own battle with cancer. Our worship was greatly enriched by the presence of the choir from the local Roman Catholic Church. Thanks to Hazel Wynne, Maura Freeman and Sandra Hendy for organising tea after the service. They intend, from September so hold a mid week evening services of wholeness and healing every second month to facilitate people who can’t attend the monthly Wednesday morning services.
Young people worship
On Saturday, May 12, around thirty young people from our parish and from Athy parish gathered in Timolin hall for a worship and social evening. The evening was lead by Scott Evans, youth officer in Cashel and Ossory dioceses. It was a great evening. Thanks to Rev. Cliff Jeffers and Rev. Nicola Halford for their support and to Laura Mc Kenna for organising the event as well as to all who helped with food on the night.
The Walking Group meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the High Cross Inn at 8pm. Participants are invited to donate one euro a night in support of St Brigid’s Hospice Kildare.
Sean Cleary, PRO reports “Last week end was the most important on the Tidy Towns calendar as judging commences on June 1. Any day thereafter the villages can be judged, so Moone and Timolin were out in force all last week. Flower planting took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The new Nature area beside the School in Timolin was started, a pathway was cut through the long grass and sanctuaries for small animals were created from logs and branches. Next, the Bird Boxes will be installed. Timolin Scouts are hoping to make some Bird Boxes. Many of the trees on the perimeter were labelled last year and this will be continued.
There was no winner of the Jackpot in the Grangenevin GFC lotto and numbers drawn were 4, 7, 10, 19. Training for children aged 4 – 12 years of age every Saturday morning from 11 – 12 in grange pitch. New players welcome. Refreshment provided for all children and tea or coffee and a chat for the parents. Call down Saturday all welcome.

Keep fit classes
The South Kildare Active Retirement Group continue with their Keep Fit Classes in Moone Hall every Wednesday morning at 10.30am. The course is being conducted by Liam Flannery, Fit For Life Instructor. All ages most welcome.
Cards in aid of Parish funds in Moone Parish Hall every tuesday evening at 9pm, Single hand 25, Top score €75. All card players welcome.
This year we have a new course for the 10K starting at the Peers, left after they go over the Bridge at the Counts gate and along Belan Avenue, pass the Griese View BB and High Cross Inn along the R448 (old N9) to Timolin entry back to Timolin to finish in Moone. There will be Water stations every 3K along the route. This will be manned by the Timolin Cub Scouts. The Timolin Cub Scouts have been doing this for the past two years, and the committee are very grateful to them for this great work. Enquiries to Tony at 087 2645882.
Inter church couples
An ecumenical service for inter church couples services will take place in Bolton Abbey on Wednesday June 20 at 7.30pm. This service is primarily for inter church couples but everyone is most welcome to attend.
