Parade The first ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place in Edenderry with thousands turning out to view the spectacle never before seen in the town on any St. Patrick’s Day.
A total of sixty-one floats participated, made up of business’s, clubs and organisations from Edenderry and surrounding areas.
Carbury Scouts took part in the Parade and were led by their Leaders bearing their Flags and National Colours.
The Grand Master of the Parade was ‘Operation Transformation’ contestant Adrian Brereton. He really looked the part in his bowler hat and pin-striped suit. Adrian received a wonderful reception from both young and old as he led the parade down J.K.L. Street.
Many people who attended on St. Patrick’s Day were reminded of the parades that were held in the 1990’s in Edenderry during what was called ‘Festival Week’, when the town would be buzzing for the entire seven-days with non-stop music on the streets and in the pubs.
Back then, the Festival was so successful that it was extended to a nine-day Event.
