Levitstown Ladies have resumed their Monday night meetings in Levitstown Hall and they are commencing sessions of one night activities. Each session will last for two hours. Next Monday April 30 at 8pm will be Yoga, Monday May 14 Air Drying Clay and Monday May 31st Conversational Irish. These activities are open to members and non members, all welcome. PRO Cait Ryan tells me “they hope to have more activities before the end of June, and she will keep me up-to-date.”
The next meeting of the local History Group will take place on tuesday April 24 in the Community Centre at 8pm. Talk - Intelligence activities during the War of Independence in Co. Kildare by Local Historian Seamus Cullen. All welcome.
GAA dinner dance
The GAA Annual Dinner Dance will take place on Saturday next 28th April in the Seven Oaks hotel commencing at 8.30pm sharp. Tickets cost €25 and are available from any committee member. Medal presentations to club winning teams will take place on the night. This promises to be a great night and all support appreciated.
Hard luck to the U/16s who lost the Division 4 semi final to Robertstown in extra time. Every one of the lads gave their all. They were unlucky not to win in normal time with Robertstown equalising with the last kick of the game in normal time. The club is very proud of the lads and they are definitely a team to watch in the future. Well done to Paul Lawler who has given great time and commitment to these lads.
The lads take on Eadestown on Saturday 28th April at 6pm away. The Juniors take on Kilcullen away on Monday 30th April at 7.30. Best of luck to both teams.

Marie Corcoran PRO reminds us that the Rathvilly Garden and Flower Club will meet to-morrow Wednesday April 25 at 8pm in St’ Patrick’s Sports and Community Centre, Rathvilly. This month’s talk will be on Gardening by Fr. Gahan, who is an expert on every aspect of gardening, so this will enjoyed by all with an interest in gardening, whether just starting out or an established Gardner. All are very welcome. followed by the usual cup of tea and chat. Admission is €5.

The official opening of the wild life nature reserve took place on Saturday last, report in next week’s paper.
The local branch of the ICA held their AGM on April 10 in the Community Centre and there was a full attendance. Officers elected - President Margaret Redmond, Secretary - Mary Jo Fitzpatrick, Secretary, Mary O’Connor Treasurer and PRO Margaret Hennessy. At the meeting the annual outing was discussed, details of which will be finalised at their next meeting. Yoga Classes will be commencing in the coming weeks. The next meeting will be on thursday May 10th at 8pm in the Community Centre. New members most welcome.
Congratulations to Vincent Murphy, Churchtown and Andy Doherty, Knockananna the winners of the Larkin Cup Doubles played in William Pearse Terrace Sports Field, Castledermot last week. The runners-up were Har Wall, Castledermot and Mick Doherty, Rathangan, in 3rd place were Frank MacAleer, Castledermot and Frank Kirwan, Castledermot, and in 4th place - Gerry Fit`patrick, Kilberry and Eamon Holden, Castledermot.
Har Wall, PRO tells me “The next competition will take place on Wednesday April 25th at Rathangan at 7pm sharp for the Tommy O’Connell Cup Singles. Draw will be made at 6.50pm so please be on time.”

VILLA TEAM NEWS - After last weeks 2-1 win over Portlaoise Celtic, Villa are now top of Division 3, after a great start to the season. The goals came from Colm Kelly and Dylan Costigan. And the Senior team got their first win of the season when Cormac O Toole scored in the 93rd minute to make it 2-1 over Newbridge Town after Vinny Dowling’s opener was cancelled out.

Scoil Diarmada Annual Fun Day
Siobhan Phelan, PRO for the Parents Council reminds us that “Scoil Diarmada Annual Fun Day will take place this year on the Sunday 27th May at 2pm in the school grounds. All our usual stalls, wheel of fortune, cake stall, bric-a-brac, bouncy castles, splat the rat, bottle stall and much more will be there together with some new and fun stalls. So don’t forget to keep the afternoon free, all are welcome, there’s something there for everyone with wonderful displays of Irish Dancing and Kempo throughout the day. Hope to see you there.”
