The 29th musical production for Clane Musical Society will be the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd. The successful production team of Dave McGauran (Musical Director), Art McGauran (Director) and Deirdre Browne (choreographer) will be returning to Clane for ‘Sweeney Todd’. The show will be running in the week commencing 29th October 2012. Details of auditions and rehearsals will be available shortly. It is expected that auditions will be held in late June early July with rehearsals commencing late August. In the meantime Martin Fahy, a member of the society is preparing a group to take part in Competition ‘C’ for the Frank Cullinane Trophy at the AIMS choral Festival which will be held on 20th May in New Ross.
Many thanks to all that supported the Abbey Players Pantomime Group who performed in the club on Friday week last in aid of the Boys School, Girls School & Clane GAA. It was a great evening enjoyed by all. Bingo continues in Clane GAA on Tuesday nights in the club @8.30pm. The Jackpot is now @ €1,550 and there will also be many Cash Prizes each week. All Welcome! Please also note that the 1st round of the Senior Football Championship takes place on the weekend on May 20th. Clane have got Round Towers and the match will more than likely be in St Conleth’s Park with details yet to be revealed. The Feile Footballers had 2 teams competing in the championship and both teams played great football with the A team losing out in the quarter finals while the B team went all the way to the final before losing out to Moorefield. The U16 football league is now finished and they are now looking forward to the championship after the exams. The Minor footballers lost out on a league final place and are now preparing for their championship which starts after the exams. Underage football & hurling training has now resumed. The Tiny Tots football is on Saturday mornings in the Scoil Mhuire Community School Hall at 10.30am with the rest of the smaller underage football groups are up in the Boys School on Friday nights @ 6.45pm. The underage hurlers are up in the club at the usual time on Wednesday nights. To commemorate the anniversary of Fr. John Sullivan, mass will be celebrated in Clongowes Wood College on Sunday 13th May 2012 at 3.00pm. Principal Celebrant: Fr. Conor Harper. The anointing of the sick and the blessing with the Cross of Fr. John Sullivan will take place immediately after the Mass.
