Triathlon training

Athy Tri-Athlon Club announce their training plan.

If one of your goals is to complete a tri-athlon or to enter a relay team then, you are more than welcome to join Athy tri club in training and we will help motivate you and or your team to achieve that goal. Our training times are as follows: MONDAY - cycle 30/40k@ 7pm (meet at courthouse),TUESDAY - open water swim @ 7pm (meet at courthouse), WEDNESDAY - brick session@7pm (meet in rugby club),THURSDAY - run 5/10k@ 7pm (meet at courthouse), FRIDAY - open water swim @ 7pm (meet at courthouse), SATURDAY cycle 30/40k@ 10am (meet at courthouse), SUNDAY - cycle 20/30k@ 9am (meet at courthouse), Run 5/10k@ 10am (meet at courthouse) For more info we are on facebook and also on the web at athytriclub.com.

Historical outing to Killeen Cormac

A Joint Outing to Killeen Cormac arranged by Castledermot Local History Group and Athy Museum Society takes place on Sunday 20th May at 3.00 p.m.

This ancient site on the Kildare/Wicklow border at Colbinstown is possibly one of the oldest Christian sites in Ireland. It holds seven ogham stones and has many other interesting features.

The history of this important site will be the subject of a talk by Dr. Sharon Greene who has made a detailed study of Killeen Cormac. Parking will be available in a nearby field courtesy of the land owner. A fee of €2.00 per person will be payable on the day. Athy Community First Responder

Athy Community First Responder is setting up in Athy and we need your help to help those close to you.

Community First Responder Volunteers will be fully trained to perform CPR, to use an AED (Defibrillator) and perform Oxygen therapy. First Responders work in conjunction with the HSE to attend emergency calls received by the ambulance service and provide care until the ambulance arrives.

How you can help – become a volunteer, come along to one of our training nights or support our fundraising efforts. For more information, contact Caitriona 085 1479500 or Paul 085 2289264.

Dylan’s Monster Day Out - please support

You are all invited to Dylan’s monster drive and family day out on Sunday 27th May in the Hunting Ground, Athy.

The event is being organised by family of friends of Dylan Steele from Barrowhouse who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This is a life threatening, debilitating and progressive muscle wasting disease for which there is no cure....

Dylan loves all types of cars, rally cars, lorries and monster trucks, tractors, motorbikes, customized cars etc so we holding a fundraising event for Dylan on Sunday the 27th of May in the Hunting Ground Athy. This is Dylan’s monster drive and family fun day out.
