Castledermot Vintage club are holding a charity road run on Sunday next May 27th at 2pm, departing from Hamilton Road. Entry is €20 per vehicle with all proceeds to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Fun Day

Scoil Diarmada Annual Fun Day will take place this year on next Sunday next 27th May at 2pm in the school grounds. All our usual stalls, wheel of fortune, cake stall, bric-a-brac, bouncy castles, splat the rat, bottle stall and much more will be there together with some new and fun stalls. So don’t forget to keep the afternoon free, all are welcome, there’s something there for everyone with wonderful displays of Irish Dancing and Kempo throughout the day. Fundraising 80’s disco

There will be a fundraising 80’s Disco and Fancy Dress (optional) in Tullow Rugby Club on Saturday May 26 at 9pm. It is in aid of Relay for Life Irish Cancer Society and admission is €5. First Holy Communion

Congratulations to the pupils from Scoil Naomh Lorcaín and Kilkea National School who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Saturday last May 19 in the Church of St. Laurence O’Toole, Levitstown. Scoil Naomh Lorcain pupils Ben Slattery, Brandon Nolan, Caroline O’ Connor , Colin Phelan , Pierce Phelan, Yasmin Fox and Jade Faulkner. Kilkea National School - Mikey McGuane, Jake Morgan, Craig Perse, Feidhlim Behan, Olivia Malone, Rachel O’Connor, Sean Kelly, George King.

Tug of war

Any men wishing to join a Castledermot TUG-OF-WAR newly formed team can do so by calling 087 2108318. Training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8.30pm. Its a great sport to take up and good way to get involved in a team. All men are welcome, no experience is necessary to join team as professional trainers are involved in forming the team.

History group

The Castledermot History Group’s next meeting is on Tuesday next 29th of May in the Community Centre at 8pm, and will be on the excavations of Ardreigh, just outside Athy. All are welcome to attend and we hope you see you there.

Tidy Towns

Tidy towns are holding the garden competition again this year. Entry forms can be picked up at the post office. Prizes awarded in the usual categories - Best large garden Best small garden - Best kept business premises and most improved area/housing estate. Entry fee is €5.00 and completed entry forms can be left in to the post office by June 8th. So get cracking with your window boxes and hanging baskets and support your local tidy towns.

GAA lotto

There was no winner in the lotto held on Tuesday 15th May. Numbers were 2, 4, 13 and 26. Winners of €50 were Keith Murphy, Castledermot, Seller - Keith Murphy, Kevin Whelan, 35 Lerr View, Seller - Granite House. Oliver Doyle, Castledermot, Seller - Aaron Murphy. Eamon Holden, Knockroe, Seller - Meggars. Next draw will take place on 22nd May in Doyles. Jackpot €7,000.

Underage training

The U/12 raining has moved to Monday nights at 7pm. U/11 training is on Wednesdays at 5.30pm. Under 10,9,8,7 and 6 training is on a Saturday morning at 10.30am.

Field day

The GAA are organising a monster field day this year on Sunday 15th July. Mark the date in your diary. It is the Sunday between the Leinster Hurling Final and the Leinster Football Final. Watch this space for the events.

Foróige club

Levitstown new Foroige club continues each Friday evenings from 7.30 to 9pm in Levitstown Community Centre. The club is open to all Young People from twelve to eighteen years of age from the Levitstown, Ballyroe, Kilkee, Castledermot, Moone, Timolin and surrounding areas. All welcome.

Castle Villa Lotto

Last weeks jackpot of €12,300 was not won. Numbers drawn were 5/28/29/30. There was one match three winer - Aisling Thompson, Newtownallen and her prize was €200. The next Lotto Jackpot is €12,500 and the venue is The Castle Inn.

Toddler group

Tir na nOG Parent Toddler Group meet in Scoil Diarmada, on Wednesday mornings from 9.30am until 11.45am. Parents and carers with pre-school children meet for play and to socialise in a friendly atmosphere. Only €2 per family. All welcome.

Young At Hearts Group

Diseart Diarmada Young at Hearts Club meet every Monday and thursday from 2pm to 4pm in the Community Centre. All welcome to come along along and enjoy a chat, a cup of tea, and a game of bingo.
