Tomy Donoghue PRO tells me “that the Kilomarathon web site is now open to receive entries. There is a bonus for athletics who enter before the end of May. €5 off the regular price of both Kilomaratthon and 10K. Kilomarathon €25 and 10K €15. The Races are very good value and all proceeds go Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, in Crumlin. There will also be a Table Quiz in Paddy O’Brien’s, Timolin on June 15 and a table of four costs €40. Cash prizes and some lovely items to be auctioned.

The Jim Roche Memorial Festival of Road Races take place on Saturday August 11 at 10am start and finish in Moone. The Race will start and finish in Moone taking in the townsland of Broomtown, Burtown, Nicholestown, Kilkea Village, Belan, Moone High Cross Inn and home via the R448 (the old N 9) to Timolin and ending back in Moone. There is also a a 10K 6.2 mile on part of the same course and races for juveniles consisting 100 yards, 500 meters and 1/4 Kilomarathon four miles on the old 10K course - Killellen Cross, Commonstown, Timolin and Moone”. Flag week-end

Grangenolvin GFC Annual flag weekend is taking place on the 1, 2, and 3 of June we need volunteers to give up a few hours over this weekend to collect in Athy. All support in this would be appreciated. Anyone interested contact Paul Tighe 0863612725.

Grangenolvin GFC - Mini Marathon,

Trish and Melanie O’ Brien are running the women’s mini marathon on the 4th of June and are currently looking for sponsorship with the proceeds going to St. Vincent’s Hospital and Grangenolvin GFC. All support in this would be appreciated. Sponsorship cards will be in the club house over the coming weeks.

Grangenolvin members draw

Grangenolvin GFC members draw. 1st prize €1,000, 2nd prize €500, 3rd prize €200 two €100 prizes and two €50 prizes. Draw will take place in the club house on the 16th of June at 9:30pm. Tickets €10 each contact Helena on 0857318747 . Tickets can be bought at under age training on Saturday mornings.

LOTTO - There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot of €3,600 and the numbers drawn wee 5/7/8/21. Match 3 winners -Kathleen Carolyn, Poppy and Jonathan, F Miller, Joe Murphy, and Betty Kelly. The €20 winners were Trish Mcnevin, Patrick Digan, Nuala Eogan, Laren Kirwan, and P.J Doyle Congratulations to everyone, tickets can be bought at underage training on Saturday mornings.

Underage training

Training for children aged 4 – 12 years of age every Saturday morning from 11 – 12 in grange pitch. New players welcome. Refreshment provided for all children and tea or coffee and a chat for the parents. Call down Saturday all welcome.

Mens adult training

Training for Adult men continues on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm. New members welcome.

Women’s Exercise Group

The Grange walking/exercise group has generated great interest. People have been turning out in good numbers. For information regarding same please contact Sabrina Dooley on 087/3220792.

Table quiz

Kilomarathon Ireland are hosting a fund-raising Table Quiz in Paddy O’Bien’s, Timolin at 8.30pm on Friday June 15 in aid of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. Table of four costs €40. Please support.

Flower club

Rathvilly Garden and Flower Club will meet on Wednesday 30th. May at 8pm in St Patrick’s Sports and Community Centre, Rathvilly, We look forward to having Mary Keenan owner of Gash Garden, Castletown, Laois who will give a talk and Slide Show on Trees. Mary is an Executive Director of The Tree Council of Ireland and a regular contributor to the Irish Garden Magazine, followed by the usual cup of tea and chat. all are very welcome. Admission €5.

Walking Group

The Walking Group meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the High Cross Inn at 8:00pm. Participants are invited to donate one euro a night in support of St Brigid’s Hospice Kildare.

Molly/Sportsman’s Inn

Keep fit classes

The South Kildare Active Retirement Group continue with their “Keep Fit Classes: in Moone Hall every Wednesday morning at 10.30am. The course is being conducted by Liam Flannery, Fit For Life Instructor. All ages most welcome.


Baltinglass and South Kildare Active Retirement Associations are arranging a five day holiday to Clare on June 18. Enquiries to Maureen Cullen or Agnes Donoghue 087 2645882.

Active Retirement

The May meeting of South Kildare Active Retirement will take place on Thursday May 31st in Moone Hall commencing at 8pm. It is very important that all members attend this meeting to discuss the summer outing and get the “Fit for Life” Course up and running. New members especially welcome.
